![]() In the present study we report the first record of the western European terrestrial snail Oxychilus alliarius (Miller, 1822) for continental Chile. Education and continuous field surveys are vital to detectĪnd prevent their propagation as well as to avoid introduction of additional alien Species is direct competition and predation of native molluscs, especially the small Trade are the most likely pathways of introduction. Urban and suburban transformation of original natural habitats, and the aquarium Of these non-indigenous species is unknown however, horticultural development, The mechanism of introduction for the majority ![]() Most of these alien species are found exclusively in transformed habitats,įew exist in natural environments. The presence and distribution of these alien species are complemented with aĬomprehensive compilation of all 34 non-indigenous species of marine, freshwaterĪnd terrestrial Mollusca in Chile until 1999, only 16 alien species were known inĬhile. The elements of open habitats presented by xerotherm sites and open wetlands were not recorded, except for the species Vallonia costata and Vallonia excentrica occurring only at the ruins of abandoned villages and their surroundings.Ī new introduced species, Otala punctata (Müller, 1774) and new records in Chileįor Cornu aspersum (Müller, 1774) and Deroceras laeve (Müller, 1774) are documentedīased on surveys carried out in northern and central areas of the country. Its occurrence here is the westernmost one in the Czech Republic. A slug species Arion alpinus, never found in this area before, was recorded at five sites. The montane snail of Clausilia cruciata was found at one site at very low altitude of 550 m a.s.l. ![]() The record of Atlantic Oxychilus alliarius species is the fifth known in Czech Republic. The common forest species dominate there, with the presence of montane and submontane elements, such as Clausilia cruciata, Vertigo substriata, and Discus ruderatus, which occur in the rest of preserved deciduous forests. There is spruce plantation dominating in the woodlands with scarce malacofauna. The author‘s collecting activity was focused on ruderal sites and abandoned villages along the state border. Altogether, 63 species (62 species of Gastropoda and 1 species of Bivalvia) were recorded at 22 selected sites. Data on recent molluscan fauna in the southern part of the Český Les Mts., with additional data from the phytogeographic district of the Plzeňská Pahorkatina hills, are presented.
